PSA Ad

The design principles swayed my decisions in how to create this Ad. I first thought of the focal point, and how this typically will create a successful ad. Without a focal point, the viewer can get lost in the ad, and therefore the ad is not effective. The central image I used was a photo of how alcohol can alter your sight, and therefore immediately introduces the idea of the ad. Other principles that were important were balance; I put two pictures in the bottom of the ad to balance the flow of the ad, and not throw it off by an uneven number of images. The font was balanced too. It was all centered, and I used the same size for different messages. Along the lines of balance, the principles of scale and proportion were important too, as an unproportional ad would be distracting and ineffective. I felt that by following the principles, I created an ad that was effective and delivered a certain message. My design fits the mold of a PSA because it clearly states the problem, and illustrates how dangerous it is. I chose to use pictures that were not too disturbing, but still showed how dangerous the effects of alcohol can be. I think my ad will show the public that binge drinking is not a safe thing to do, and hopefully will help raise awareness.
